Anyone aged 16 or over, whatever their citizenship. Residency decides eligibility: Blackcat cannot provide services to residents of countries under EU, UN or OFAC sanctions. If you live in a country other than the one you are a citizen of, you prove legal residence with a residence permit, a permanent residence certificate, a refugee certificate or an equivalent document
A valid passport or national ID card issued by your country of citizenship, showing your full name, date of birth, photograph and document number. Blackcat may also ask for proof of address, usually not older than three months: a bank statement, a utility bill (mobile phone bills are not accepted), a lease agreement, a residence permit or an official letter from a government body.
Citizens of non-EEA countries who live in the EEA are asked by email for a document confirming their legal right to stay, such as a residence permit or a long-term visa
Your Tax Identification Number (TIN) must match your country of residence. If you do not have one yet, you can register without it and provide it within one month
KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It is the identity verification that EU anti-money-laundering law requires of every regulated provider, so it is not a Blackcat choice. Before an account can be used, Blackcat must verify who you are, where you live and, in some cases, where your money comes from. Providers must also keep this information current, which is why you may be asked for updated documents later
The usual causes are a blurry or cropped photo, an expired document and poor lighting. Retake the photo with the whole document in the frame and a steady camera. For the selfie, face the camera directly and remove glasses, masks or hats. Check every auto-filled field against your document before you submit.
A driving licence is not accepted as proof of identity. Proof of address older than three months, and screenshots from other apps, are not accepted either
Some applications need manual review, which usually takes up to one business day. If yours takes longer, contact support with your registration email and phone number.
A decline can come without detailed reasons, because anti-money-laundering rules limit what a provider may disclose about a decision. Residence in a sanctioned country, and registering with an email address or phone number that already belongs to an account, are two documented causes of rejection. If you had an account before, contact support to restore access instead of registering again

A payment account held in euros and identified by an International Bank Account Number. The IBAN identifies both the institution and the individual account, so a payment sent from any other provider in Europe reaches the right place. In the euro area it is normally the only detail someone needs to pay you.
Blackcat issues a dedicated euro IBAN in the account holder’s own name, which matters when a payer checks the name on the account before sending
No. Blackcat is issued by Papaya Ltd., an Electronic Money Institution licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority (registration number C55146). The balance is electronic money issued against the funds you pay in, and the provider cannot lend it out. The account is a payment account
Papaya Ltd. must keep customer funds separate from its own funds. Client funds are safeguarded in accordance with applicable legislation. The Depositor Compensation Scheme does not cover funds held in e-money accounts, so safeguarding rules are the protection that applies
Yes. Every euro wallet in the Blackcat app has its own IBAN. Incoming transfers are credited to the wallet whose IBAN the sender used, and each wallet keeps its own transaction history. Give a sender the IBAN of the wallet you want the money to reach, because wrong details can cause delays or failed transfers
Yes. A salary or invoice payment in euros from within the SEPA area is an ordinary credit transfer, and your Blackcat IBAN receives it like any other euro account. Give the payer your IBAN and the name on the account. Payers increasingly check that the two match

A euro payment sent under the shared rules of the Single Euro Payments Area. The rules standardise the message format, the identifiers and the maximum time a payment may take, so sending euros to another country in the area works like sending them within your own. Blackcat supports SEPA Credit Transfer and SEPA Instant Credit Transfer
A SEPA Credit Transfer is processed on business days and must reach the recipient’s provider by the end of the next business day. A SEPA Instant Credit Transfer settles in seconds, at any hour on any day, but only when the recipient’s provider supports it.
If the recipient’s provider does not support SEPA Instant, Blackcat processes the payment automatically as a standard SEPA Credit Transfer. Under EU law an instant transfer cannot cost more than a standard one
In the Blackcat app:
Transfers can be made in euro only
Open your euro wallet and go to the wallet details. There you find the wallet’s IBAN and the account holder name. Share both with the sender. The money is credited to that wallet when it arrives
The most common cause is a wrong detail. An IBAN with a typo fails validation, and a valid IBAN for a closed account is returned by the recipient’s provider. A payment can also be held for compliance checks, or delayed because the instruction arrived after the provider’s cut-off time.
Standard transfers do not move on weekends and public holidays, so a Friday afternoon payment may not arrive until Monday or Tuesday. A returned payment goes back to the sender, though not always on the same day

Yes. A card is available instantly in the app as a virtual card and, on request, as a plastic card posted to the address you indicate. Cards are currently available only to residents of the European Economic Area, which covers the 27 EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway
Every eligible account has a Main Card, which can be issued as a virtual card and as a plastic card. You can add Additional Cards that share the same balance:
Blackcat cards are issued on a credit-grade BIN, which improves acceptance in these situations. Hotels and car rental firms place a hold against a guarantee instead of taking payment at the counter, and many of their systems reject card number ranges associated with prepaid products.
A credit-grade card carries no credit line: spending is limited to your available balance. No card is accepted everywhere, so confirm with the merchant in advance
Open the app and go to Cards in the bottom menu, then select the card. If it is not active, tap Activate; it is ready to use at once. To see the PIN, open the card details and tap Show Info. The PIN is available in the app at any time
Go to Cards, select the card, open its details and choose Limits. Set your preferred daily and monthly limits. They apply to all card transactions: online, in store and ATM withdrawals
The amount is converted into euros before it is charged to your account, at a rate set by the card network plus any margin the provider applies. The terminal or website may offer to convert for you and show a choice between euros and the local currency.
Compare the total amount debited rather than the rate alone, and check the pricing page for the fees that apply

Yes. Open Apple Wallet on your iPhone or Apple Watch, or Wallet & Apple Pay in settings on your iPad or Mac, and add your Blackcat card. You can add a card to up to 10 devices
Yes. A Blackcat virtual card can be added to Google Pay and used at contactless terminals
No. The merchant receives a device-specific token instead of the number printed on your card, and never sees the security code. A data breach at a merchant exposes a token tied to one device rather than card details that can be reused anywhere
Blocking the card in the Blackcat app also blocks its wallet tokens, so wallet payments stop as well. If you lose an iPhone, you can suspend the cards through Find My, resume them if the device is recovered and delete them if it is not. A replacement card usually needs to be added to the wallet again

Blackcat users can join a bonus program: a balance reward or cashback on card purchases. The rate depends on your balance. Both are calculated over a calendar month and paid monthly.
| Program | Condition | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Balance reward | Average monthly balance of €300 or more | 4% p.a., paid monthly |
| Balance reward | Average monthly balance below €300 | 2.2% p.a., paid monthly |
| Cashback | Monthly balance of €300 or more | 0.5% on eligible card purchases |
| Cashback | Monthly balance below €300 | 0.1% on eligible card purchases |
No. A balance reward is a loyalty benefit calculated on the money in your account. It is not interest, because an Electronic Money Institution is not permitted to pay interest on e-money, and it is not an investment product. It is governed by the terms of the program, which can change. Your money stays in your payment account and remains available to spend
Eligible card purchases only. ATM withdrawals, card-to-card transfers and payments to financial services are excluded from reward calculations, and monthly caps apply. Read the program terms for the full list of exclusions before you plan around them
It reflects your closing balance on every day of the month, not only the balance on the last day. Blackcat takes the balance at 24:00 (CET/CEST) for each calendar day, adds the daily figures together and divides by the number of days in the month
Rewards are calculated from the first day of a month up to, but not including, the first day of the next, and paid once a month, usually mid-month, if they reach a minimum amount (for example €0.10).
You can be subscribed to only one bonus program at a time. You can switch the program on or off in the app; if you switch it off, rewards stop accruing.
The bonus payment is a part of the loyalty program provided by Baltic Technology Solutions OÜ. Detailed terms and conditions can be found here

Open the Blackcat app, select the card and tap Block card. The block takes effect immediately and can be reversed if it was a false alarm.
If the card is lost or compromised, block it first, then contact support through chat or email to close it permanently. A replacement card is sent to your registered address
3D Secure is the protocol that applies strong customer authentication to online card payments. When you are asked to confirm a purchase in the app or with a code, 3D Secure is running. Every Blackcat card is enrolled in 3D Secure by default
A check that compares the recipient name you enter with the name registered on the account behind the IBAN, and warns you before you send if the two do not match. Providers in the euro area have had to offer it since October 2025 under the Instant Payments Regulation. It is aimed at invoice fraud, where a genuine invoice is intercepted and its IBAN is swapped
For a payment you did not authorise, EU rules generally require the provider to refund it and restore the account, with limited exceptions for gross negligence or fraud on your part. Report it as soon as you notice, because the outcome often turns on timing.
A payment you authorised yourself after being deceived is treated differently, and the refund position is less clear-cut. Contact Blackcat support in the app straight away
Your PIN, card security code, one-time confirmation codes, app passcodes and account recovery codes. No legitimate provider asks for them, including Blackcat support. If someone claims to be from Blackcat and asks for any of them, end the conversation and contact support through the app
The only official address is blackcat.app. Clone sites imitating Blackcat exist; they look convincing on the page and are wrong in the domain, sometimes by one character. Reach the site by typing the address or using a saved bookmark, not by following a link in an email, message or advert. Report clone sites to support; the security team works to take them down

On the pricing page. Fees change and third-party summaries go stale quickly, so the pricing page and the terms and conditions are the reference
For euro payments, yes. The Cross-Border Payments Regulation requires that a euro transfer to another EU or EEA country costs no more than an equivalent domestic payment, and the Instant Payments Regulation requires that an instant transfer costs no more than a standard one. Neither rule applies to SEPA countries outside the EU and EEA
Providers update pricing as their own costs, scheme charges and regulatory obligations change. EU rules require that you are told about changes to your framework contract in advance, typically two months, and that you can exit without penalty if you do not accept them
